Guitar Story
In 1996, Kaman Corporation / Kaman Music Corporation (KMC Musicorp after 2007) controlled the Ovation name. Its one line on record was built at New Hartford CT (Kaman/Ovation plant) (USA).[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
A Ovation guitar from 1996 belongs to whichever era was running on its product line that year. An era is a stretch when the company that controlled the name and the plant that built the line both stayed the same. If you know the line, the table below tells you which version of Ovation you have. The name dates from 1965[S163], 31 years before.
| Line | Controlled by | Parent | Built at | Era | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ovation USA (New Hartford) | Kaman Corporation / Kaman Music Corporation (KMC Musicorp after 2007) | — | New Hartford CT (Kaman/Ovation plant) New Hartford, CT, USA[7] | 1966–2008 | community[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] |
Nothing changed in 1996. Every era running that year carried on from an earlier year, so a Ovation from 1996 is the same version as one from 1995.
