You can read every page of Guitar Story without an account. We collect very little, and this page lists all of it.

    When you read the site

The site is hosted on Vercel. To send you a page, Vercel’s servers see your IP address and the request your browser makes, as every web host does. Vercel keeps those request logs briefly for operations and security.

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It records the page you viewed, the site that referred you, your country, and your browser, operating system and device type. To tell one visit from the next it uses a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, so it can’t follow you across days or across other sites.

The fonts are served from this site, and the maps are drawn in your browser from a file on this site. Neither sends a request to anyone else.

    Stored on your device

If you switch between the dark and light theme, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the next page opens the same way. It never leaves your device. Clear your site data to remove it.

    When you send a suggestion

The Suggest button sends us what you type, the page you were on, any text you highlighted, and any source you link. Your name and email are optional. We use them only to ask about or follow up on your suggestion, and we don’t publish them. Suggestions are stored in our own database, where only the editors can read them. A reviewer reads each one and decides whether to change the records by hand.

To stop suggestion floods, the server keeps your IP address in memory for ten minutes. It is not saved with the suggestion.

    Advertising

We plan to pay for the project with ads from Google AdSense. No ad code runs on the site yet. We’ll update this section on the day it does. When ads appear:

    • Google and other ad vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site and other sites. Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners choose ads based on those visits.
    • You can turn off personalized ads in Google’s Ads Settings. You can turn off cookies for personalized ads from many other vendors at youradchoices.com.
    • Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent before any cookies are set for ads.
    • Google explains how it uses information from sites that show its ads in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Advertisers have no access to the records and no say in them. A fact changes only through a cited claim.

    What we don’t do

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t ask for an account. The site is not aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect anything from them.

Links to brand sites, sources and other pages take you to sites with their own privacy policies.

    Questions and deletion

To ask a question, or to have your name and email removed from a suggestion you sent, use the Suggest button on any page and leave an email address so we can reply.
