Guitar Story
In 1993, Taylor Guitars (Westland Music Co. / Taylor-Listug) controlled the Taylor name. Its one line on record was built at Taylor El Cajon (1980 Gillespie Way) (USA).[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
A Taylor guitar from 1993 belongs to whichever era was running on its product line that year. An era is a stretch when the company that controlled the name and the plant that built the line both stayed the same. If you know the line, the table below tells you which version of Taylor you have. The name dates from 1974[1, 2, 3, 4, 5], 19 years before.
| Line | Controlled by | Parent | Built at | Era | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Taylor USA | Taylor Guitars (Westland Music Co. / Taylor-Listug) | — | Taylor El Cajon (1980 Gillespie Way) El Cajon, CA, USA[8] | 1992–2020 | community[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7] |
Nothing changed in 1993. Every era running that year carried on from an earlier year, so a Taylor from 1993 is the same version as one from 1992.
