SG (Les Paul double-cut)
A Gibson electric, introduced 1961[1]. Built on the Gibson USA line.
Double-cut Les Paul Standard and Custom officially announced 1961 per Guitar World (S339); the same article has the first guitars leaving the factory late 1960 (S340 says toward the end of 1960) and the Les Paul name dropped toward the end of 1963, after which it is the SG. Year 1961 is the announcement year, not first shipment. discontinued left null: SG is still made.
