In 2012, Maton Musical Instruments controlled the Maton name. Its 2 lines on record were built at Maton Box Hill factory, Melbourne (Australia).[1, 2, 3, 4]
A Maton guitar from 2012 belongs to whichever era was running on its product line that year. An era is a stretch when the company that controlled the name and the plant that built the line both stayed the same. If you know the line, the table below tells you which version of Maton you have. The name dates from 1946[1, 4], 66 years before.
| Line | Controlled by | Parent | Built at | Era | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maton acoustic guitars (Australian-built) | Maton Musical Instruments | — | Maton Box Hill factory, Melbourne | 2003–now | unverified[1, 2, 3] |
| Maton electric guitars, basses and amplifiers (1958 to c.2020s; end year unverified) | Maton Musical Instruments | — | Maton Box Hill factory, Melbourne | 2003–now | unverified[1, 2, 4, 3] |
Nothing changed in 2012. Every era running that year carried on from an earlier year, so a Maton from 2012 is the same version as one from 2011.
