Guitar Story
In 2012, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation controlled the Guild name. Its 3 lines on record were built at Korean DeArmond builder (Guild; builder unverified), Chinese GAD builder (Guild; builder unverified) and New Hartford CT (Kaman/Ovation plant) (South Korea, China and USA).[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]
A Guild guitar from 2012 belongs to whichever era was running on its product line that year. An era is a stretch when the company that controlled the name and the plant that built the line both stayed the same. If you know the line, the table below tells you which version of Guild you have. The name dates from 1952[S002, S126], 60 years before.
| Line | Controlled by | Parent | Built at | Era | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guild DeArmond (Korea) | Fender Musical Instruments Corporation | — | Korean DeArmond builder (Guild; builder unverified) South Koreano source | 1998–2014 | community[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] |
| Guild GAD (China) | Fender Musical Instruments Corporation | — | Chinese GAD builder (Guild; builder unverified) Chinano source | 2000–2014 | community[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7] |
| Guild USA | Fender Musical Instruments Corporation | — | New Hartford CT (Kaman/Ovation plant) New Hartford, CT, USA[9] | 2009–2014 | community[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8] |
Nothing changed in 2012. Every era running that year carried on from an earlier year, so a Guild from 2012 is the same version as one from 2011.

Every numbered marker on this page points here: the document, its grade and the passages relied on. An era is computed, so it cites the facts it was derived from. A fact marked “no source” has no claim attached yet.
