Guitar Story
In 1985, C.F. Martin & Co., Inc. (Martin family) controlled the Martin name. Its one line on record was built at Martin 510 Sycamore Street (USA).[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
A Martin guitar from 1985 belongs to whichever era was running on its product line that year. An era is a stretch when the company that controlled the name and the plant that built the line both stayed the same. If you know the line, the table below tells you which version of Martin you have. The name dates from 1833[1, 2, 3, 4, 5], 152 years before.
| Line | Controlled by | Parent | Built at | Era | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Martin USA (Nazareth) | C.F. Martin & Co., Inc. (Martin family) | — | Martin 510 Sycamore Street Nazareth, PA, USA[8] | 1964–now | community[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7] |
Nothing changed in 1985. Every era running that year carried on from an earlier year, so a Martin from 1985 is the same version as one from 1984.
